Saturday morning at the Hanging Lake trailhead we were given options to wait around 3 hours or come back later, because the parking lot as full. I’m not exactly known for my patience, so we chose the option to come back Sunday morning. We were so cold camping (my sleeping pad deflated in the middle of the night, other than that I was fine!) that it was not hard to wake up at 3:30 am to start the trail at 6, walking up the steep trail using headlamps, jumping from rock to rock. And being early was once again worth it. We got to keep the whole lake mostly to ourselves. When we were coming back down, masses of other hikes were making their way up to the lake and parking lot was already full.
